ISN’T VENMO JUST
FOR PAYING PEOPLE?
WELL, YA. BUT IT CAN DO SO MUCH MORE.
For gen z money talk is far from taboo. In fact, they openly gab to their friends about it.
So, we set out to show there’s more to Venmo in a way that just felt like overhearing a conversation BETWEEN FRIENDS…
Knowing the best way to reach gen z these days is through entertainment, NOT ADS, we created a longform episodic series that drops into conversations between REAL friends Rachel Sennott and Jordan Firstman, that just so happen to seamlessly weave in the hilarious ways Venmo is engrained into their lives, unexpectedly sneaking in product benefits along the way.
We set out to make these films unique in style from the start. In an absolute career dream goal for me, we shot on 35mm film which created the most beautiful colors and tones. The texture film brings added to the authenticity of each scene, making it really feel like you were watching a scene out of a movie or show.
We wanted to grab attention in the beginning of our films, craving something that felt like the opening of a modern show while also bringing in some cool factor—ENTER: Bold flashing titles and Mura fucking Masa. The king of memorable electronic beats composed an iconic stinger (along with a bunch of other tracks that will forever be in our hearts) that tied our campaign tone all together.
From start to finish, this production was the most collaborative I’ve ever experienced.
From writer’s rooms with Rachel and Jordan, to building up the humor with our incredible director Ramez Silyan.
We also got to work with the INFAMOUS,
Sinna Nasseri, to capture still moments on set.
Which turned into OOH across NY and SF
TO ROUND OUT THE CAMPAIGN and continue the conversations, WE MADE A spicy TEASER + HARD-WORKING SOCIAL ASSETS
And last but not least…..BTS by me :)
